1. Windows and UNIX users need to download the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Sun Microsystems:
http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/jre/

This large download is free from Sun and provides the software infrastructure necessary to run all Java applications. This is similar but different from the Java support in some Internet Browsers. Divine Right Online does not run in a browser, it is a standalone game program. Make sure to remember where you downloaded the JRE on your local machine because you will use it in the next step. Macintosh users can contact support for special instructions:
info@divinerightonline.com

2. Install the JRE by executing the application that you just downloaded. For instance, in windows, you could navigate to and double-click on the file. Follow the instructions and place the JRE in any location that you choose.

3. Open a command prompt and type:
java
You should see a long message about Java usage and not a short error.

4. Create a new directory for the game in any location you choose. Expect the install to take ~2MB or twice that if you choose not to delete the installation file.

5. Windows users can either download the zipped (.zip) or self-extracting zip (.exe) installation package of Divine Right Online. If you are not sure which, choose the self-extracting zip (.exe). UNIX and Mac users can choose the zipped (.zip) or tar archive.
Click on the appropriate link below and download the install into into the directory from step 4.
Self-Extracting Zip:

Zip:

Tar:
www.divinerightonline.com/download/DrInstall.tar

6. To install on Windows via executable simply run the DrInstall.exe program. Select the destination directory from step 4 and make sure to ALLOW CREATION OF SUBDIRECTORIES.

7. Users choosing the other installation packages can either unzip or untar the download into the directory from step 4. Again, make sure that you allow it to create subdirectories.

8. Delete the install package to reclaim the disk space.

9. Close all extraneous applications.

10. In windows, navigate to and double-click on dro.bat or open a command prompt there and type:
dro
UNIX and Mac users can open a prompt to run:
sh dro.sh
The game will load the map and open.

11. Enter your name and password and keep the auto-checkbox selected.

12. If you do not already have a login name and password, choose your own and send us an email with your selection:
info@divinerightonline.com

To prevent confusion, please choose an alias that does not have a direct association with Minaria.

11. After a successful login you will receive a DR Connect OK message. You are now ready to create new games and join in existing games.
